We often think of the ego as a reflection of arrogance. Although this may be true the ego is also reflected via false humility, fear, self-doubt, worry and useless comparisons with others. All of these states of mind tell others that you have more faith in your limitations than your desired accomplishments. Fear of being who you really want to be feeds rather than starves the ego. It takes intestinal fortitude to step forward, plant your feet firmly on terra firma and say you’ll be true to yourself. This cannot be done when you’re ruled by your ego.
