Well, you’re not alone.
Yesterday I was listening to an interview with a best-selling author in the self-development field, and to my amazement, he admitted that he’s often depressed and battles anxiety regularly.
His battles with anxiety – a fancy word for “fear” – start as soon as he gets up each day.
Holy dawg piles.
That really sucks.
At first I couldn’t relate to the author whatsoever. But then I got to thinking, “Wait a second, Fure-cat. You used to wake up grumpy as hell. It used to take you a couple hours to find your groove.”
Tis true.
All this changed, however, when I began doing loosening exercises before getting into the thick of the day.
No, I did not say stretching exercises.
Loosening exercises are not the same as stretching – because with loosening you are primarily working on the joints of the body as opposed to the muscles.
Over 25 years ago, a kung fu and tai chi teacher told me, “Everyone works on stretching the muscles, but it’s the joints that need to be loose. If the joints are loose, the muscles will go along for the ride.”
True statement, but he forget to tell me other part of the story.
The mind-blowing reality of loosening the joints, though, is NOT that your joints get looser. It’s that you start FEELING GREAT as your joints are exercised.
There’s a huge psycho-physical reaction that takes place when you exercise your joints in a free flowing manner.
If I were you, I’d get on it. You’ll be in awe at how it changes your life.
